about
From the age of 17 I struggled with chronic fatigue. After contracting glandular fever, it developed into chronic fatigue, and by the age of 19 I was diagnosed with ME. For periods within that time I was so exhausted I was unable to walk to the bathroom myself, and short trips like that would leave me in bed for hours. My mental health was really struggling and my PMS felt unbearable. When I was diagnosed with ME, I was given medication that I took daily. At the age of 23 my mam was diagnosed with terminal cancer and died 10 months later at the age of 56. This really made me question my own health, life and how much it was affecting me at such a young age.
I decided to make a change. I came off all the medication I was taking, including the pill, and decided I was going to find alternative, natural ways of healing that actually treated the root of the issue and created lasting change.
For the next 10 years I completely turned my life around. I tried and experimented with many different natural alternative healing practices, which helped for some time but always seemed short term. That was until I discovered Chinese medicine.
Chinese medicine has been one of the greatest influences of my life and health. It is a blend of many different practices that I love, all built into one cohesive system. It treats the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of an individual, but that connection is also reflected back into everyone and everything around you, and in turn nourishes all life.
Over time, with commitment, dedication and will, my energy has improved, my emotional state is more balanced, and I no longer live with ME. Instead, I have daily rituals and practices that now feel natural and easy to do.
Chinese medicine is a deep connection with nature and is steeped in preventative health practices, something I have become so passionate about sharing. In a world where we are sold quick fixes with minimal effort, preventative health asks you to take accountability, to create small daily changes, to live a life of intention. This small daily effort creates the biggest change over time. It is these practices that will change the entire course of your life and create profound change in your long-term health. It takes looking back over 1 year, 5 years, 10 years to really see transformational changes.
“Little by little, a little becomes a lot.”
Unfortunately, it comes as no surprise that many people, and especially women, are going or have gone through similar experiences. With 80% of autoimmune diseases diagnosed in women and many women struggling with day-to-day life, something needs to change.
That’s why I have created Zhi.
In Chinese medicine, the Zhi is the spirit associated with Winter, the water element, and is housed in the Kidneys. It is the most Yin of Yin in its essence and is closely associated with your will, your drive, and determination. It is reflective of your ‘‘trust in life, that everything will work out, and a will to endure it’’. The efforts of the Zhi can only be seen and reflected upon over a long period of time. This spirit can be seen like a small seed, the seed of potential. The quiet persistence of a seed pushing through the soil, and within that seed you can plant whatever intention you want. How big that seed grows and how you choose to nourish it is up to you.
Everything I have specifically chosen to share with you, from treatments to educational content, movement and mindful practices, to carefully selected products, can and will create lasting change to your health over time.
Your Zhi will be nourished.
